Why it pays to hire a VA
Over the past 20 years, rapid advances in communications technology (email, cell phones, video transmission and electronic organizers) have made it possible to communicate with virtually anyone at any time in any place. As a result, it is no longer necessary to have every member of a company in one location.

Today, services can be delivered remotely by employees or, at even less cost, by Virtual Assistants (VA). Most often, Virtual Assistants are independent contractors with years of experience and access to individuals who can supply admin, sales and management services at a fraction of the cost of hiring full-time staff. It’s a proven business model that has been endorsed by many business leaders. For example, in April, 1999, Bill Gates explained in Time Magazine why focusing on core competencies – and outsourcing the rest – was a good business strategy:

“As a business manager, you need to take a hard look at your core competencies. Let another company take over the management responsibilities for the areas of your company that aren’t directly involved in those competencies. Use modern communications technology to work closely with the people – now partners instead of employees – doing the work.”

Here are some more reasons why it pays to hire a VA:

Most VAs have spent years in the business world and are exceptionally skilled and experienced in their areas of specialty.

Handing administrative tasks to a highly skilled professional gives you more time to grow your business and generate profit.

Most VAs are entrepreneurs. They understand the challenges of running a business. They are motivated to do their best for you at all times because their business success depends on your satisfaction.

VAs are contracted professionals, not employees. You only have to pay them for work done (not for idle time, nor for vacations, sick leave or absenteeism). There are none of the complications and additional costs associated with employees (payroll, benefits, training, and severance). In addition, you don’t have to pay for office space, equipment or furniture.

Most VAs have access to associates and hence can handle overload and emergency situations with the maturity and professionalism that comes from years of experience.
